Top Secret Mission

I haven't been as quite as busy knitting recently. I am busy compiling my component of next year's school curriculum! Hopefully we'll be mostly done by this weekend? If you want to know what next year's top secret, ultra kid grabbing adventure is--TOUGH. You can wait, just like my kids.

(This absolutely counts under the "creative things I am working on" label.)

Booties and Beret

Yes, I didn't realize the flash wasn't on. This little project is for my new step-niece. I tried to copy the hat off of a picture I saw on line. It didn't work exactly, but it's still pretty cute. I am sure Lia will be able to make it look good.

Baby Sweater

This is the "Girly" brown sweater. I had big plans for pink, but I had a special request for brown. According to the pattern, it is measuring at a size 6/9 months. However, it fits Isabella everywhere but the sleeve length. Hmmmm. Those Nordic women from the site where I got the pattern must have big babies. (Either that or Isabella is just a tiny little squirt).

Knitting at the speed of light

This little sweater is for Isabella. I have unraveled it all the way down to the purple zig zag to change the colors around. This one is taking too long--I'm trying to stay interested.

This sweater is for Baby Amakasu (if it's a boy). I have baby girl's sweater in the mix, too.

My latest creative obsession has been knitting. It's about 9 months old actually. Shouldn't I have a baby to show for it? I actually have quite a few babies. I knitted so many hats over christmas I can't even remember how many there were. Of course, I give away most of my "posterity" for gifts so, naturally, I don't have pictures for them. But these are a couple of the latest.

Why do I love knitting??
1. One can pick it up and set it down anywhere, anytime.
2. Unlike my other needle art passion--english smocking and heirloom embroidery--when I finish, I'm finished. I always have a pile waiting for me to set up the sewing machine and dedicate the hours it takes to constructing the garment.
3. The baby items, in particular, go quickly, are satisfying, and can be completed before I get too bored with the project.
4. It's fabulous fun.

Hats, Hats, and more Hats

Neopolitan flower beanie

Made for Siena

Materials:
Lion Brand Cotton Ease

I made hat based off a pattern I saw on the internet. The flowers and button was my adaptation. I misplaced the pattern once I got started and improvised the decreases at the crown. This project is super easy and quick--especially compared to the complicated cables I have been doing lately. I love how it turned out. I am working on both a cream, brown, and blue version for Aunt Becki and a pink, brown, and cream for my niece, Olivia.

Welcome

I have been thinking for awhile that I would like a place to showcase some of my creative projects. While I don't have much free time, a little project here and there seems to make the difference between insanity and order in my life.

As Christmas has just past, I have a quite a few little items to post!!
